LINCOLN, Neb. – The Raven Cross Country program traveled to Nebraska on Saturday to take part in the annual Woody Greeno Invitational co-sponsored by the University of Nebraska and Nebraska Wesleyan University.
The Raven Women took second in the college division while the Raven Men took ninth. The field was a mix of 15 NAIA and NCAA Div. II programs.
The Raven Women were led by Nina Smart who finished 12th overall and second in the college division with a time of 23:01 on the 6,000 meter course. Lauren Benzing was next for the women in 19th (sixth in the college division), followed by Katherine Dillard in 25th (seventh), Hannah Pinkerton in 58th (23rd), Hannah Wondra in 85th (36th), Elise Buchman in 86th (37th) and Maria Doyle in 95th (42nd).
In all the Raven women competed against 204 total runners in the field.
Chris Buhler and Luke Friess anchored the Raven Men. Buhler finished in 66th overall and 27th in the college division with a time of 27:10 while Friess was close behind in 69th (28th) with a time of 27:13. Bob Bartush was next for the men in 119th (55th), followed by Joseph Barnes in 121st (56th), Andrew Kaiser in 124th (59th), JonElliot Brubaker in 173rd (87th) and TJ Simpson in 174th (88th).
The Raven Men competed in a field of 233 runs over the 8,000 meter course.
The program continues their season on Sept. 25 with a trip to Emporia to take part in a pair of afternoon races hosted by NCAA Div. II Emporia State University.
