CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Both men's and women's Cross Country teams represented Benedictine on Saturday at the annual NAIA National Championship, held this year at McAlpine Creek Park.
The Raven Women earned a 20th place finish while the Raven Men returned with a 32nd place finish.
The women were anchored by the 32nd place finish of Katherine Dillard, who finished the course in a time of 18:14.5. She was followed by Regina Smart in 85th, Lauren Benzing in 127th, Hannah Wondra in 173rd, Lucy Leighton in 220th and Elise Buchman in 236th.
The men were anchored by Luke Friess, who finished in a time of 26:38.7 to finish 157th overall. Friess was followed by Christopher Buhler in 186th place, Joseph Barnes in 207th place, Timothy Simpson in 242nd place, Bob Bartush in 248th place and Andrew Kaiser in 310th place.
The two teams competed in fields of over 320 competitors each.
While in Charlotte, the NAIA also released the annual Daktronics-Scholar Athlete teams and Benedictine was well represented on both teams.
Bartush, JonElliot Brubaker, Andrew Doyle, Friess and Keisling represented the Raven Men while Benzing, Buchman, Dillard, Leighton, Sydney Moser, Smart, Kendra Stewart and Miranda Toyne represented the Raven Women.
The teams earned their spots on the NAIA National Tournament after earning the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship in Oskaloosa, Iowa, back on Nov. 7.
