ORANGE BEACH, Ala. – Forward Ashley Chandler headed in two goals and blasted a third to help guide the No. 4-seeded Raven Women's Soccer Team into a 4-0 win over No. 13-seeded Campbellsville (Ky.) University on Monday night in the Second Round of the 2015 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship.
Benedictine (21-1-1) scored twice in each half en route to the shutout of Campbellsville (19-3-0) and advance to the Quarterfinals for the second season in a row.
Chandler broke the scoreless draw during the 24th minute after she headed in a ball deflected to her from Liz Intfen. Intfen's redirect came off a free kick from Kara Hines, giving both Hines and Intfen assists on the goal.
Benedictine struck again late in the half when Chandler blasted a shot under the cross bar off an assist from Olivia Meyers during the 39th minute.
Campbellsville's Ashley Howard ended the first 45 minutes with three saves, keeping the Tigers close to the Ravens despite a 8-4 advantage in shots during the first half.
Chandler wrapped up her epic night during the 54th minute when her head once again redirected a pass into the box, this time from Liz Enna.
Hannah Trandahl capped off the Ravens scoring efforts when she was able to push a goal off the cross bar from the right side of the box to give Benedictine the 4-0 advantage during the 67th minute.
Heading into the match, Campbellsville had surrendered eight goals all season and led the NAIA in shutouts with 17. Howard finished with eight saves, recording five saves in the second half.
The Ravens return to the Orange Beach Sportplex at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday against the winner of the Mobile-Biola match - the final match of Monday's Second Round matches.
