The Raven Men's Basketball team earned its second straight conference win on Thursday night, beating Heart newcomer Grand View University, 84-70, inside the Ralph Nolan Gymnasium.
Benedictine (11-4, 5-4 Heart) set new single-game highs in points scored, field goals made (30), field goal percentage (55.6) and 3-point field goal percentage (58.8) en route to the 14-point win over Grand View (8-8, 2-7 Heart).
Defensively, the Ravens limited the Vikings to just 1 of 6 from beyond the 3-point arc in the first half and 35.5 percent from the floor.
By halftime, the Ravens lead stood at 14 points, 45-31.
In the second half, Grand View cut their deficit down to seven points at 59-52 but couldn't get any closer as again, the Raven defense stepped up limiting the Vikings to just two points over the next 6:33 to pull back ahead by 16 points and secure the win.
Benedictine had a very balanced offensive night, finishing with a season high five players in double figures. John Harris Jr. led the way with 16 points while Shawn Fleming Jr. and Connor Fleming were close behind with 15 each. Justas Novilas added 12 points off the bench, which outscored Grand View's 37-15 while Jake Schannuth round out the top scorers with 10.
The Ravens remain at home on Saturday with a 4 p.m. match up against No. 6 William Penn University. Saturday also marks the annual Alumni Day for basketball with all alumni in attendance recognized at halftime of the game.
