MARSHALL, Mo. – The Raven Wrestling team continued their season on Friday and Saturday with a two-day invitational tournament hosted by Missouri Valley College.
As a team, the Ravens scored 23 points to take 20th place while individually, Stephen Loosbrock was the teams' top finisher taking third place at 197 pounds.
Loosbrock opened the invitational with three wins. His first, came on a fall over Jonathan Garcia from Lindenwood University-Belleville. He then won his next matches by decisions of 5-0 and 4-0 over Dirk McOmber of Waldorf College and Cody Sivertsen of Oklahoma City University.
In the semifinals of the championship bracket, Loosbrock dropped a tough 4-3 decision to the eventual champion of the weight class, Garrett DeMers from Montana State Northern University.
He finished off the tournament with two more wins by decision, the first a 5-2 win over Andrew Mahone of Missouri Baptist and the second over Donavan Fouchy from Missouri Valley College which gave him his third-place finish.
The season continues for the Ravens on Sunday, as they travel to Wichita to take part in the annual Kansas Cup hosted this year by NCAA Div. II Newman University. The Kansas Cup features all collegiate wrestling program from throughout the state.
