DES MOINES, Iowa – Grand View University used a 41-point first half to put some distance between themselves and the Raven Men's Basketball team on Wednesday night as they earned a regular-season split with a 81-68 win.
Benedictine (14-13, 8-13 Heart) and Grand View (14-14, 8-13 Heart) played to a 40-all tie in the second half as they Ravens just couldn't overcome a 28-point first half.
Grand View connected on three more field goals in the first half than the Ravens but held Benedictine to 2 of 9 from beyond the arc as they built their halftime lead.
Benedictine went 12 of 31 in the first half and followed that up with a 12 of 34 effort in the second half to finish the game at 36.9 percent.
Grand View also matched their first half field goal effort in the second half as they connected on 15 fields in each half to finish the night at 54.5 percent from the field.
The Ravens converted on 13 of 15 at the charity stripe in the second half, making as many free throws as Grand View attempted.
Benedictine returns home at 4 p.m. Saturday to wrap up the Heart regular season against Central Methodist University. Saturday marks the annual Senior Day for the Ravens with John Harris Jr. and Fleming Jr. being honored immediately following the women's game along with the two Seniors for the Raven Women.
