TOPEKA – Stephen Loosbrock ended a historic four-year run for the Raven Wrestling program on Friday as he made his fourth trip to represent Benedictine at the NAIA Wrestling National Championships.
Loosbrock and Gabe Suthoff represented the team at this year's championships and their season came to a conclusion in their opening duals of the consolation bracket.
Suthoff opened the tournament with a 17-10 loss to Jeremiah Reed of Hannibal-LaGrange before he suffered a loss by fall in his first consolation bracket dual to Reed Tennyson of Southern Oregon.
Loosbrock lost a 4-2 decision to Ottawa's Kasey Clump before suffering a 5-3 loss in the first sudden victory period in his first consolation bracket dual to York's Jack Murphy.
For Suthoff, the appearance at nationals represented his second straight trip while Loosbrock was competing in his fourth tournament.
Loosbrock finishes his career as a three-time NAIA All-America selection.
Additionally on Friday, the NAIA released its annual Daktronics-Scholar Athlete list and Loosbrock was one of three Ravens to make the list.
