JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Raven Track & Field Program was well represented at this year's NAIA Indoor National Championships and earned a history first in the process.
The Women's 4x800 meter relay team of Hannah Wondra, Katherine Dillard, Hannah Pinkerton and Lauren Benzing earned the first-ever National Championship for the program winning the event in a time of 9:09.37. The time was two seconds faster than runner-up St. Francis (Ill.)
As a team, the Raven Women took 11th place out of 26 scoring teams as they earned 10 points for the championship finish of the 4x800.
The All-America finish for the 4x800 was the second for the quartet who took second place at last year's NAIA Indoor Nationals.
The All-America results were not done for the program with the 4x800 finish.
Wondra took second place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:11.20 to earn her second All-America honor of the meet and fourth in the past two years.
Dillard placed fourth in the 3000 meters with a time of 10:00.78 to earn her second All-America honor of the meet. The All-America honors at this year's Indoor Nationals marked the third straight such honors for Dillard as she earned individual All-America honors in the 2014 event and was also part of the 2015 4x800 meter relay All-America team.
The 11th place finish for the Ravens was the best among any other women's team from the Heart of America Athletic Conference who were represented at the annual championships.
