Manheim, Pa. – The National Wrestling Coaches Association released its annual list of NAIA All-Academic teams and individuals on Wednesday and the Raven Wrestling program received recognition as one of the top program in the country for their efforts in the classroom.
Benedictine achieved a 3.3068 GPA and was edged out by Morningside for the top GPA among NAIA wrestling programs.
Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa checked in as the top team with a cumulative GPA of 3.3073, edging second-place Benedictine.
Benedictine was the highest-ranked NWCA All-Academic team as Grand View and Missouri Valley also earned a spot in the Top 20.
To be nominated for consideration for the All-Academic team, a wrestler must have at least a 3.25 grade-point average and be a 2016 NAIA national championship qualifier or have a 3.0 GPA and earned All-American honors at the 2016 championships in Topeka.
Stephen Loosbrock was also named individually for his efforts in the classroom this season. He finished the season with a record of 34-8 while qualifying for the NAIA Tournament for the fourth straight year while working towards is Master's in Business Administration.
