The Raven Men's Soccer team opened up the Miguel Rodrigues era of Benedictine Soccer with a 1-1 draw on Wednesday night as they took on Midland University at the BC Soccer Complex.
Benedictine scored their lone goal inside the first 10 minutes of the match and Midland didn't answer until the 66th minute and in the end, not even 110 minutes of action would prove to be enough to determine a winner.
John Mullen scored the Ravens goal during the 10th minute of play after playing a ball forward to himself, he was able to take it to the top of the box and push it past Midland keeper Cesar Valverde.
Mullen led the Ravens in shots, finishing the night with three shots and three shots on goal.
At the half, the Ravens held a 8-3 advantage in shots with a 5-1 advantage in shots on goal.
In the second half, the Midland defense limited Benedictine's opportunites and the Warriors were able to convert on a penalty kick during the 66th minute to pull even.
The Warriors finished the game with a 13-12 advantage in shots while Benedictine finished with a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal.
Raven keeper Caleb Jenkins went all 110 minutes in goal, recording three saves in the draw.
The Ravens hit the road for their next match as they travel to Siloam Springs, Ark., for a non-con match up at 6 p.m. Saturday against John Brown University.
