LINCOLN, Neb. – In a field consisting of NJCAA, NAIA, NCAA Div. I and Div. II runners, the Raven Cross Country team competed in the annual Woody Greeno Invitational hosted by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Nebraska Wesleyan University on Saturday.
The Raven Women placed fifth in the Gold Division (Junior College, NCAA Div. II and NAIA) while the Raven Men placed ninth in their Gold Division.
Lauren Benzing paced the Raven women with a 16th place finish as she finished the 6,000 meter course in a time of 22:56. Other scoring Ravens were Lucy Leighton in 40th, Elise Buchman in 42nd, Monica Davied in 70th, Katherine Ross in 71st, Sydney Moser in 78th and Paige Case in 89th.
In all 156 runners competed in the event on the women's side with Benzing recording the highest finish out of the NAIA runners competing in the field.
The Raven Men competed in a field of 219 runners and were paced by Joseph Barnes for the second straight meet. Barnes finished in 71st with a time of 28:01 to lead the charge for the Ravens. Other scoring Ravens were John Danner in 78th, Andy Kaiser in 103rd, Phil Davis is 116th, Andrew Doyle in 123rd, Elijah Green in 132nd and Joseph Lynch in 138th.
Both teams continue their season on Friday as they travel to Emporia to compete in the Emporia State Invitational hosted by NCAA Div. II Emporia State.
