William Penn University (6-3, 3-0 Heart North) scored 12 unanswered points in the second half on Saturday and then held off the Raven Football team late in the fourth quarter to earn a 19-14 win.
Benedictine (5-4, 1-2 Heart North) dropped their second straight game in conference play despite out-gaining the Statesmen on offense.
The Ravens finished with a total of 403 yards on offense while the Statesmen finished with 253 – 228 of which came on the ground.
Benedictine struck first midway through the second quarter when Ejay Johnson scored on a one-yard rush to cap off a 15-play, 86-yard drive. The Statesmen defense would answer later in the quarter when they blocked a 43-yard field goal attempt by Derek Rodgers and returned it for 85 yards yards to tie the game.
The Statesmen scored their two second-half touchdowns on one-yard carries but had their first PAT blocked by Daishon Johnson and their second two-point PAT was unsuccessful.
Johnson finished with a career high 185 yards off 29 carries to anchor the Raven running game that finished with 221 yards.
Koester went 15 of 26 with 182 yards with a touchdown and interception. Christian Haack was the Ravens leading receiver with 76 yards off six catches while Harris finished with 30 yards off six catches to go with his touchdown.
Defensively, three Ravens finished in double figures. Kenny Hershberger led the way with 13 tackles and a forced fumble while Chandler Staley and Kendall Williams added 10 each. Daniel Freymuth added a sack while the Ravens finished with 5.5 tackles for a total loss of eight yards.
Benedictine hits the road next week to take on No. 6 Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa. Kick off is scheduled for Noon.
