MITCHELL, S.D. – A squad of nine traveled on Saturday as the Raven Wrestling team competed in the Dakota Wesleyan University Open.
Of the nine, the Ravens earned one championship and one third-place finish.
Anthony Orozco won the championship in the 165-point weight class as he went 6-0 on the day. He earned a win by fall over York's Austin Coy in the championship match. In addition to the championship match win by fall, Orozco picked up another win by fall, three wins by decision and a win by tech fall in the quarterfinals.
Dillon Scanlon earned a win by injury in the third place match of the 141-pound weight class after Christian Mesa from Hastings College was unable to finish the match. After earning a tech fall in the first round of the championship bracket, Scanlon fell by a 9-2 decision in the second round to Augustana's Deven Donais. He bounced back three wins by decision and a win in the first sudden victory period over Cameron Devers from Concordia (Neb.) to keep advancing in the consolation bracket.
Tyler Harris went 3-2 on the day, falling in the consolation semifinals to Parker Jackson of Concordia-Morehead in the 174-point weight class. Josh Romero also went 3-2 in the 165-pound weight class but his day was ended in the fourth round of the consolation bracket after he advanced to the championship bracket quarterfinals.
The team remains on the road Saturday, traveling to St. Charles, Mo., to compete in the Lindenwood University Open.
