The Raven Men's Basketball team led wire-to-wire on Saturday to secure their third conference win as they earned a 81-70 win over Clarke University inside the Ralph Nolan Gymnasium.
Benedictine (5-0, 3-0 Heart) held Clarke (2-3, 1-2 Heart) to just 35.6 percent from the floor and 29.2 percent from beyond the arc – almost 10 percent below their season average – to earn head coach Ryan Moody his 100th career win at Benedictine.
After the score was tied at 20 points with just under seven minutes left in the first half, the Ravens closed out the half outscoring the Crusaders 16-6 to take a 36-26 lead into halftime.
A 3-pointer from Andre Yates and two from CJ Vallejo pushed the Ravens lead to 15 points inside the first three minutes of the second half. The Crusaders would pull within 10 points before the midway point of the second half but that was all the closer the would get.
Benedictine pulled ahead by as much as 28 points before settling in for the 11-point win.
Defensively, the Ravens held the Crusaders to just 3 of 15 from the 3-point arc in the second half while converting of 7 of 13 on the offensive end.
Benedictine returns to the road on Tuesday with a trip to Springfield, Mo., for a Heart game against Evangel University at 7:30 p.m.
