KANSAS CITY, Mo. – As the soccer season draws to a close on Saturday with the playing of the National Championship match, the NAIA released the annual Men's Soccer Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete team and the Raven Men's Soccer team was represented on the team.
Clay Haag and Matthew Denton were among the 423 student-athletes to earn a spot on this year's team.
In order to qualify for a spot on the team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale, be a junior in academic standing and be nominated by their head coach or sports information director.
The honor marks a first-time selection to the team for Haag while it marks the third time that Denton has earned a spot on the team.
Benedictine went 12-4-1 this season under first-year head coach Miguel Rodrigues and took second place in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. They finished the regular season ranked No. 23 in the NAIA. The postseason NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll will be released on Wednesday.
