KANSAS CITY, Mo. – With the conclusion of the regular season on Saturday and the start of the Heart Postseason Tournament tonight, the All-Heart Women's Basketball team was released this morning.
Benedictine, who finished second place this season, earned four sports on the 2017 All-Heart Team with Kristen Murphy and Serena Parker landing on the first team, Ali Taff landing on the second team and Haylee Beard earning a spot an honorable mention spot.
Murphy finished the regular season ranked sixth in the Heart in scoring with a 16 ppg average while Parker was ranked 11th at 14.03. Murphy led the Ravens in scoring this season and recently reached the 1,000-point scoring milestone. Parker ranked second in the Heart in field goal percentage, finishing the regular season with a 52.5 percent average.
Taff led the Ravens in assists with 115 while averaging 8.4. She is currently the active leader in assists in the Heart with 391 career assists, which ranks her fouth on the program's all-time list.
Beard finished the regular season with a team-high 64 3-pointers, hitting at an average of 35.6 percent. She is currently ranked third in the Heart in total 3-pointers with her program-record nine 3-pointers ranking as the highest single-game total in the Heart this season.
Benedictine begins their postseason run at 7 p.m. Wednesday as they will host the winner of the Evangel University/Missouri Valley College game that takes place tonight at 7 p.m. in Springfield, Mo.
Ticket prices for the Heart Postseason $6 for general admission for adults, $2 for students 17 and under while Benedictine students will be admitted for free with a valid ID presented at the student entrance located at the end of the hallway leading to the Ralph Nolan Gymnasium.
The Semifinal round is scheduled for Friday and will take place on the campus of the higher seeded teams in the two game match ups. A win on Wednesday would allow the Ravens to host a game on Friday as well with that game also starting at 7 p.m.
All games played at Benedictine will be streamed live on the Benedictine Raven Sports Network. The Heart Women's Basketball Championship game on Monday, March 7, will be produced by Niles Media again this year and broadcast on ESPN3, KSMO in Kansas City and Mediacom throughout their coverage area.
