JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Raven Track & Field program returned from the 2017 NAIA Indoor Track National Championships with a pair of All-America honors.
After running a 2:29.61 in the prelims on day two of the championships, Danner ran a 2:30.14 in the finals of the event on Saturday to take fifth place and earn his All-America honor.
For Leighton, she qualified for the finals witha time of 10:22, 02 and then turned in a 10:11.52 in the finals on Saturday to earn eighth place for her All-America honors.
In addition to Danner and Leighton, the Ravens had two additional runners compete in this year's national championships.
Elise Buchman also competed in the 3,000 and qualified for the finals finishing in 12th place. She turned in a time of 10:35.52 in the prelims to quaify for the finals and then ran a 10:28.12 to take 12th in the finals. Meredith Pickert represented the Ravens in the 3,000 meter race walk - one of the events that only runs a final - and she finished just off the podium taking ninth place in a time of 16:20.77 to take ninth. While the time for Pickert just missed earning her All-America honors, she still broke her own school record in the event.
As a program, the team is off until April 1 when they open up their 2017 Outdoor schedule with a trip to Baldwin City to compete in the annual Baker Relays.
