TOPEKA, Kan. – The Raven Wrestling team sent three to the NAIA National Championship this year and returned with their third and fourth All-America selections in the history of the young program.
Kevin Kelly earned All-America honors at 141 pounds while Anthony Orozco earned All-America honors at 165 pounds.
In addition to the appearances by Kelly and Orozco, Dillon Scanlan also qualified at 141 pounds for the Ravens but missed the All-America Round by two matches, losing out in the consolation bracket.
Kelly beat Quen Campbell from Brewton-Parker (Ga.) by a 7-6 decision to earn fifth place and his All-America honors. Orozco dropped a 8-7 decision to No. 4-ranked Ryan Niven of Grand View University in the Consolation Championship Match to take fourth place.
Kelly and Orozco join former Ravens Joe Hunter (2013) and Stephen Loosbrock (2014, 2015) as NAIA All-Americans in the four-year history of the program.
On Friday, the NAIA also released the annual Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete list and four Ravens earned recognition for their efforts in the classroom this season as well. Scanlon was joined by Alek Mitchell, Keleb Mitchell and Zack McClure as Ravens to earn the honor.
