LEAVENWORTH – Clare Hanson scored an unassited goal with 2:11 left in overtime on Saturday to secure an 11-10 win for the Raven Women's Lacrosse team over the University of St. Mary.
Benedictine (3-0, 2-0 KCAC) used a five-goal first half to take a lead, only to have St. Mary (2-2, 0-1 KCAC) storm back with a seven-goal second half to send the game into overtime.
Benedictine's scoring was spread out between five players. Marianna Brown and Emily Ruhland scored three goals each while Hanson and Lizzie Darrow added two. Caitlyn Chickey added a goal of her own to round out the Raven scoring. Jenna Boh recorded an assist on Brown's first goal of the game in the first half.
The Ravens held a 28-15 advantage in shots and finished with a 22-12 advantage in shots on goal.
Taryn St. Louis and Suzy Dillingham combined in goal. St. Louis played the first 30 minutes before she was removed due to an injury. Dillingham tallied two saves and was in goal when the Ravens scored the game-winner in overtime.
Benedictine plays their third straight road game on Monday night, traveling to Kansas City, Mo., for a 4 p.m. game with NCAA Div. II Rockhurst University.
