The Raven Softball team returned home on Sunday to host their Heart-opening doubleheader with Baker University at the BC Softball Field.
Baker (8-1, 1-1 Heart) earned a game-one win, 6-4, before Benedictine (9-6, 1-1 Heart) rallied to take the night cap, 6-4, to split the series with the Wildcats.
In game one, the Ravens committed four errors defensively in support of starting pitcher Nikki McNeil. McNeil went all seven innings, giving up three earned runs off 10 hits with five strikeouts in the loss.
At the plate, the Ravens mounted a seventh-inning rally but fell short as they could only come up with five hits. Courtney Parker, Sarah Methvin, Lindsay Profitt and Carney Meade were credited with an RBI each.
In game two, the Ravens scored four runs in the first two innings in support of Alex Gilham inside the circle. Gilham finished with nine strikeouts, scattering eight hits over seven innings while giving up four runs in the win.
Methvin and Chris Flucke recorded a double each at the plate while Parker and Methvin recorded two RBIs each.
The Ravens hit the road for a Heart doubleheader on Wednesday traveling to Marshall, Mo., to take on Missouri Valley College. They return home for a Heart doubleheader against Evangel University at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
