BALDWIN CITY – The Raven Track & Field Program competed in their first outdoor competition of the season on Saturday as they took part in the annual Baker Relays.
The Raven Women took second place overall with one record falling while the Raven Men took second as well.
Kendra Stewart set a new mark for the program in the 10,000 meters as she took fourth place in the event with a time of 40:58.38. The old record stood at 42.53.41 and was set by Elizabeth Schmitz during the 2010 outdoor season.
In all, the Raven women earned one first-place finish, five second place finishes and five third place finishes.
The women scored a total of 27 points in the 5,000 meters as they took first, second, third and sixth. Lucy Leighton led the group in first place, followed by Katherine Ross in second, Sarah White in third and Maria Doyle in sixth.
Keishonda Rose took second in the 200 meters, Leighton added a second-place finish in the 1,500 meters and Sarah Lucas took second place in the long jump.
Meredith Pickert took third place in the 5,000 meter Race Walk while both the 4x100 meter relay and the 4x400 meter relay took third place as well.
For the Raven Men, the earned three first place finishes, three second place finishes and six third place finishes.
The 4x400 meter relay took took second place while Philip Davis took second in the 1,500 meters.
Joseph Butler took third place in the 200 meters, Andrew Doyle took third in the 800 meters, Elijah Green took third in the 3,000 Steeplechase, Jeremiah Connealy took third in the high jump while the 4x100 meter relay took finished in third place.
The season continues on Saturday with the trip to Fayette, Mo., to compete in the CMU Invite.
