FAYETTE, Mo. – The Raven Track & Field Program returned to the track on Saturday to compete in the CMU Invitational and a field of Heart opponents and regional competitors.
The Raven Women returned with a fifth-place finish while the Raven Men returned with a seventh place finish.
After narrowly missing breaking the record in the first outdoor meet of the season last week, Keishonda Rose was able to break the record in the 200 meter this week. She ran a 25.37 to finish in third place breaking the previous mark of 25.58 set by Laura G'Sell during the 2011 outdoor season.
While they scored points for the Ravens in the long jump finishing in fifth and sixth place respectively, Maddie Minneart and Sarah Lucas just missed breaking the school record in the event. Minneart's top mark was 17' 11" while Lucas' top mark was 17' 10.75". The outdoor record for women's long jump is 17' 11.5" and was set by Natalie Stump during the 2006 outdoor season.
Lucy Leighton won the 5,000 meters in a time of 18:23.07 and was the Ravens only individual event winner on the women's side. In addition to taking third in the 200, Rose also took third in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.17 while Meredith Pickert took third place in the 5,000 meter Race Walk with a time of 29:55.39.
For the Raven Men, John Danner was the lone indvidual event winner as he took first place in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:49.12.
The Ravens continue the outdoor season on Saturday with a trip to Liberty, Mo., to compete in the annual Darrel Gourley Open hosted by William Jewell College.
