KANSAS CITY, Mo.– After earning her first KCAC honor of the year earlier on Tuesday, Teresa Petruccelli gave the Women's Lacrosse Program another first as she earned NAIA Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Petruccelli earned the KCAC Title-clinching win for the Ravens in goal as she was stepped in for Taryn St. Louis against Midland. She recorded 12 saves - one off the team high for the season. That included eight saves in the second half as the Ravens limited the Warriors to just two goals in the second half off 11 shots.
She played in three games this season so far, with Saturday marking her first career start for the Ravens. She has played a total of 120 miuntes in goal and has recorded 23 saves for a save percentage of .622 against 47 shots faced.
Petruccelli and the Ravens are the No. 1 seed in the KCAC Tournament which gets underway on April 20 at 10 a.m. The top four teams in the final KCAC standings qualify for the tournament. Benedictine and Clarke, who is 3-3 in KCAC play, are the only two teams to have completed their conference schedule. Ottawa is currentl 3-1 while Midland and Missouri Valley are 2-2. Ottawa still has to play both Midland and Missouri Valley.
