BALDWIN CITY, Mo. – Not even Mother Nature could keep the Raven Track & Field program from their final tune up for the upcoming Heart Outdoor Track & Field Championships as the program returned to Baldwin City to compete in the annual Zach Kindler Wildcat Open.
While Mother Nature did limit some of the competition, enough events were completed for the meet to count and the Ravens returned with some quality results.
Lucy Leighton continued to position herself for a solid showing in the Heart Championships with a second-place finish in the 1,500 and she finished the event in a time of 5:05.46.
Davaney Banks won the 3,000 Steeplechase in a time of 13:04.76 while Sarah Lucas won the long jump with a jump of 16', 1.75".
Lindsey Grant rounded out the top performers for the women with a third place finish in the javelin with a throw of 87'5".
Phil Davis paced the Raven men with a second place result in the 1,500. He completed the race in a time of 4:19.96.
Scott Brannan took third in the shot put with a mark of 40', 2.75".
The Ravens travel to Oskaloosa, Iowa, on May 5-6 to compete in the 2017 Heart Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by William Penn University.
