KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For this sixth time this season, a member of the Raven Baseball team has been recognized by the Heart of America Athletic Conference for their efforts on the field.
Daryl Meyers earned the Heart's final Baseball Player of the Week honor on Monday when the conference released the list of weekly award winners.
Myers hit .538 over the Ravens four-game series against MNU. Benedictine went 3-1 taking the final three games of the series to lock up the No. 3 seed in the 2017 Heart Baseball Championship.
The freshman from Castle Rock, Colo., went 7 of 13 with five runs scored, a double and two RBIs. He walked twice and recorded a stolen base as well as recording a slugging percentage of .615 over the series.
Defensively, he nine assists and four putouts in 14 chances at shortstop.
Myers enters the Heart postseason with the third-highest batting average on the team at .374. He has 61 hits with 43 runs scored. Defensively, he has a .935 fielding percentage with 85 assists and 45 putouts over 139 chances.
The Ravens open tournament play in Ozark, Mo., on Thursday at 7 p.m. The official tournament field will be announced on Tuesday with the release of the bracket. Benedictine enters the tournament with an overall record of 33-20 marking the most wins for the program since winning 37 in 2006.
