KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Raven Baseball team returns to the Heart postseason for the first time under second-year head coach Anthony Everman and officially found out their opponent on Tuesday as the Heart released the bracket for the 2017 Baseball Championship.
As the No. 3 seed Benedictine will take on MNU in the first round of the tournament as the Pioneers earned the No. 6 seed.
Benedictine finished the regular season with an overall record of 33-20 while posting a 22-10 record in Heart play to earn the No. 3 seed as the second-place finisher in the Heart South.
The Road to Lewiston begins its journey for 10 teams as the Heart Baseball Championship takes place May 3-9 at US Baseball Park in Ozark, Mo. TOURNAMENT BRACKET
For the first time in league history, 10 teams will participate in postseason play, beginning with a pair of single-elimination games on Wednesday, May 3. The fourth and fifth place finishers from each division will each participate in a single game on the opening day of the event, with the winners moving into the eight-team, double-elimination portion of the championship. Culver-Stockton and Evangel will square off in the first game of the tournament at 10 a.m., followed by Avila and Graceland at 1 p.m.
In its debut appearance, Clarke claimed the No. 1 seed as the winner of the North Division with a 26-6 record. Central Methodist was the South Division champion and claimed the No. 2 seed. Benedictine and MNU are joined by Peru State and Grand View with spots already locked up in the double-elimination tournament.
