Benedictine College Men's Basketball head coach Ryan Moody is excited to announce the addition of two new assistant coaches to the Raven staff as Brandon Antl and Robert "Poochie" Earl will join the program for the 2017-18 season. Coach Anti joins the program as a graduate assistant coach while Earl will serve as a volunteer assistant coach.
A graduate of the University of Minnesota-Duluth in 2013, Coach Antl began his career as an AAU coach for the MN Stars, a premier girl's program in the Twin Cities of Minnesota. Coach Antl then coached a season with the MN Rise boy's AAU program in southern Minnesota. Coach Antl just completed his second season coaching in the MN Fury boy's AAU program, a top club in the Twin Cities. This summer his 17-and-under team went 37-11 and won championships in the Minnesota Heat Tournament, and were bracket champions in the NY2LA Next Level Invitational and The Las Vegas Classic. Coach Antl also spent two seasons as the head coach for the Alden-Conger High School girl's program in southern Minnesota, leading them to 15 wins last season. Antl has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in Marketing and a minor in Coaching.
A 2001 graduate of Benedictine with a degree in Business Administration, Coach Earl returns to campus where he was a successful player for the Ravens. He was a two-time Heart of America Athletic Conference All-Conference honoree and team MVP his Senior year. Coach Earl also spent time in the Air Force where he had the opportunity to play competitive basketball overseas. He also founded a youth basketball program in 2014 in Dallas, the A.Y.G. Lakers which now have eight competitive teams.
"I am excited to add both Brandon and Poochie to our staff," Coach Moody said. "They bring different skills and experiences to our program but both add maturity, coaching experience, skill development and great organizational skills and both are outstanding individuals. Brandon has been recruiting, developing talent and coaching both AAU and at the high school level in Minnesota for several years. Poochie is a former Raven who started a program from scratch and knows the community of Benedictine College and Atchison. Our players will immediately pick up on their energy and passion and I am excited to see how they help us moving forward."
Where are they Now?
In addition to announcing his new staff members, Coach Moody gave an update on his former graduate assistants who are in full time positions at other programs. Todd Johnston, who left his position in May of 2017, is now the assistant coach at Cloud County Community College in Concordia. Paxton Molinari is the assistant coach at NCAA Division III Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Kyle Blackbourn is the Assistant Director of Basketball Operations for the University of Wisconsin men's basketball program in Madison, Wisc.
