KANSAS CITY, Mo. – On the heels of a 2-0-1 start to the season, the Raven Men's Soccer team jumped into the NAIA Top 25 on Tuesday when the Association released the first poll of the regular season.
The poll was released prior to the Ravens 6-1 win over Bellevue University and was based off their first three matches of the season. Benedictine earned 249 points to move from the receiving votes category to No. 15.
The jump in the rankings was bolstered by the Ravens 3-1 season-opening win over then-ranked No. 1 Hastings College.
Benedictine is one of four teams from the Heart of America Athletic Conference in the latest poll. MNU leads the pack at No. 3, followed by Missouri Valley College at No. 8 and Baker University at No. 12. Missouri Valley saw the biggest jump from the preseason poll to the first poll of the regular season. At 3-0, the Vikings moved from the last spot in the receiving votes category to their Top 10 ranking.
In addition to the four ranked members of the Heart, Grand View University was listed in the others receiving category with 58 points.
Hastings dropped to No. 4, Bellevue remained in the receiving votes category with 6 points while the Ravens lone draw - Northwestern (Iowa) - joined the receiving votes category with 15 points.
Through four matches, Ryan Dickerson leads the Ravens in goals with four and shots on goal with seven. Adam James leads the team in total shots with 12 while Felipe Cepeda leads the team with two assists. Caleb Jenkins has recorded 15 saves in 380 minutes in goal.
Benedictine remains at home for their next two matches as they take on a pair of opponents out of the KCAC. They host Sterling College at 7 p.m. Saturday before hosting Bethany College at 7 p.m. on Sept. 13.
