KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Off to its best start since their Heart Championship run of 2013, the Raven Football team moved up to spots on Monday as the NAIA released the second Top 25 Coaches' Poll of the regular season.
Benedictine (4-0) is coming off a 55-20 win over then-ranked No. 19 MNU moved up to No. 14 this week with a total of with 183 points.
With the Ravens move to No. 14, the Heart now has three teams inside the Top 15 in the latest poll led by the Ravens next opponent Baker University. Baker remained at No. 2 while Grand View University moved up to No. 8 from their previous ranking of No. 9. MNU remained inside the poll, dropping to No. 22 after their loss to Benedictine.
Peru State College is the lone Heart member listed in the other's receiving votes category as they earned six points in this week's poll.
As a team, the Ravens rank in the top 10 in 12 NAIA statistical categories. They lead the NAIA in total rushing offense with 1,212 yards and are second in third-down conversion at 63 percent. They rank third in both total sacks by (15) and total scoring (206), fourth in both rushing per game (303) and pass efficiency (201.4) while ranking sixth in scoring defense (15.3). Additionally, the Ravens rank seventh in points per game at 51.5 points through four games this season.
Individually, Ejay Johnson is ranked second in total rushing (492) and total scoring (42) as he is tied with teammate Aaron Jackson in total scoring. Shaefer Schuetz ranks fourth in pass efficiency (207.2) while Daniel Freymuth ranks eighth in total sacks (3.5).
