The No. 20 Raven Men's Soccer team outshot No. 3 Missouri Valley College 5-3 in the second half on Wednesday night as the two NAIA-ranked opponents squared off at the BC Soccer Complex.
In the end, a strong start to the match by Missouri Valley (5-0-1, 1-0-0 Heart) proved to be too much for Benedictine (5-2-1, 0-2-0 Heart) as the Vikings earned a 2-1 over the Ravens.
Valley struck first, scoring off a header by Sergio Toro during the 21st minute.
The Ravens managed just two shots during the first half, as the Vikings controlled possession en route to a 13-2 advantage.
Adam James pulled the Ravens even during the 45th minute when Felipe Cepeda dribbled it up the middle before crossing it toward the far post where James caught up to it and pushed in inside the near post past Viking keeper Patrick Irankunda.
The score remained tied until the 56th minute when the Vikings' James Mclaran scored what proved to be the game-winning goal.
Lucca Rodrigues led the Ravens in shots with two.
Raven keeper Caleb James finished the night with two saves over his 90 minutes in goal.
The Ravens turn back around on Saturday as they continue their home stand with a 7:30 p.m. match against William Penn University as part of the annual Family Weekend. Saturday's match will be streamed live on BRSNtv.
