DES MOINES, The Raven Volleyball team took the road on Thursday for a Heart match up against No. 13 Grand View University.
Benedictine (9-5, 3-4 Heart) used a .412 hitting percentage to take the first set before Grand View (12-6, 6-0 Heart) was able to rally to take the next three sets and earn a 3-1 win over the Ravens.
Overall, the Ravens finished with a .149 hitting percentage that led to 49 kills as a team. Three Ravens finished in double figures in kills, led by the 14 kills of Sofi Thomas and Fleur Wesselink. Katie Thomas added 11 kills to round out the Ravens top hitters.
Defensively, the Ravens had eight team blocks and 70 digs. Hayle Cochran led four Ravens in double figures in digs with 24. Brown added 11 while Christel Haack and Carly Taylor finished with 10 each. At the net, Kate Hanson, Thomas and Sarah Rahmanzai finished with two block assists each while Rahmanzai added two solo blocks.
The Ravens return home for their next match as they step out of conference play for a Noon match on Saturday against NCCAA opponent Manhattan Christian College to start off a full slate of Raven Athletics home events as part of the annual Family Weekend.
