KANSAS CITY, Mo. – On the heels of the fourth regular-season Top 25 Coaches' Poll on Tuesday, the NAIA released the first Modified RPI ratings on Wednesday and the Raven Women's Soccer team was inside the Top 10.
Benedictine earned the No. 6 spot in the rating, which are released three times through the course of the season, after holding their No. 15 ranking in the Tuesday Top 25 Poll.
The MRPI, which stands for Modified Ratings Percentage Index, was first adopted by the NAIA for the 2010 season and is used to select the at-large qualifying teams and seed the 32-team national championship opening round field.
The two remaining MRPI ratings will be released on Oct. 18 and Nov. 13 with the Nov. 13 rating helping determine the national championship field.
The MRPI consists of the team's modified winning percentage, their opponents' winning percentage and the cumulative ratings points from the NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll. Each of the three values has a weighted percentage calculated in the MRPI. The MRPI modifies the value of home/away/neutral results and adds more value for games against opponents ranked in their respective national poll.
Benedictine is the highest-rated member of the Heart in the first MRPI. Central Methodist was listed at No. 9 with the Eagles and Ravens the only two Heart members listed in the top 32 in the ratings.
On Tuesday, the two schools were the only two listed in the Top 25. CMU checked in at No. 13, 21 points ahead of Benedictine.
The Ravens hit the road for their next three matches. The first opponent over that stretch, Clarke University at 1 p.m. Saturday in Dubuque, Iowa.
