Trailing 2-1 against Peru State College on Friday night, the Raven Volleyball team limited the Bobcats to a total of 12 kills over set four and five as they rallied to earn a 3-2 win.
Benedictine (14-6, 7-5 Heart) converted 17 kills in their set four win and then added 11 kills off a .846 attack percentage in set five to earn the win over Peru State (9-11, 7-3 Heart).
Peru State took the opening after limiting Benedictine to just .094 at the net while hitting .212 en route to a 25-23 win. Benedictine pull the match even with a 17-kill second set to earn a 25-20 win.
The Bobcats held off a late rally by the Ravens in set three to earn a 25-23 win and take control of the match before the Ravens rallied to win set four, 25-22, and set five, 15-5.
The Ravens finished with 68 kills as a team as three Ravens finished in double figures. Fleur Wesselink led the attack with a season high 22 kills while Sara Rahmanzai added 12. Sofi Thomas finished with 10 in three sets while MaKenna Ketter emerged off the bench over the final three sets to finish with 7 kills to help spark the Ravens rally.
Taylar Garner anchored the offensive attack, which finished with a .248 attack percentage. Garner finished with 58 assists while Abby Brown added five.
The Ravens also finished the match with 11 aces – their second-best serving effort of the season. Garner led the way with five while Haac and Wesselink added two.
Defensively, th eRavens recorded four team blocks and 80 digs. Brown finished with a team high 15 digs while Garner, Haley Cochran and Christel Haack finished with 14 digs each. Kate Hanson led the front-line defense with two block assists and one solo block.
The Ravens return to action at 2 p.m. Saturday as they wrap up their seven-match homestand with a match against Graceland University.
