LAWRENCE – The Raven Men's and Women's Cross Country teams traveled to Haskell Indian Nations University on Saturday to compete in the annual Haskell Invitational.
The Raven Women took third out of 13 teams competing while the Raven Men placed second out of 10 teams.
Katherine Dillard paced the Raven women as she won the individual championship in a time of 19:22.11. For her efforts, she was also named the Heart Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week.
In addition to Dillard, the Raven Women placed three additional runners in the top 25 of the field of 108 runners. Melanie Cozzi placed eighth, Sara White placed 13th and Paige Case placed 22nd. Maria Doyle was the remaining runner for the Ravens, she finished the race in 29th place.
For the Raven Men, Joseph Barnes led the way as four Ravens finished inside the top 20 of the 89 runner field. Barnes took eighth place in a time of 27:43.97.
Daniel Laplante placed 10th, followed by Elijah Green in 15th and Liam Morel is 17th. Andrew Kaiser took 31st, Matthew Mason took 32nd and Sebastian Fuentes-Branas placed 36th to round out the Ravens scoring in the Invitational.

Both teams are off from competition until Oct. 21 when they travel to Winfield to take part in the annual NAIA Mid-States Classic hosted by Southwestern College. The women's race is slated for 10:30 a.m., followed by the men's race at 11:30 a.m.
