Heading into its final two matches of the regular season on Tuesday night, the Raven women's soccer team had plenty to play for as they hosted Graceland University.
Benedictine, winners of its last two, had a chance to jump to sole possesion of second place in the HAAC with a win over the Yellowjackets.
The Ravens used two second-half goals over a three minute span on Tuesday to earn a 2-0 win over Graceland and pick up their third straight shutout in HAAC play.
After holding a slight 4-2 advantage in shots over a scoreless 45 minutes of play, the Ravens turned on the offensive pressure in the second half as they finished with a 11-5 advantage in shots.
Minutes later during the 75th minute, Bethany Smith pushed the Raven advantage to two goals with an unassisted goal.
Benedictine finished with a 15-7 advantage in shots on goal and a 9-1 advantage in shots.
The Ravens final tally could have been far higher, if not for the efforts of Graceland keeper Stafany Castano-Cardoza. Cardoza finished with seven saves on the night.
Raven keeper Ashley Holland tallied her third straight shutout in goal for the Ravens, recording one save.
Benedictine takes on MNU at 5 p.m. Saturday back at the BC Soccer Complex. MNU takes on Avila Univesity on Wednesday.
