After moving up to No. 4 just a few hours before taking to the field at the BC Soccer Complex, the Raven men's soccer team back up their move up the poll with their second straight shutout in HAAC play on Tuesday night.
Benedictine netted a goal inside the first 10 mintues of the match and then added two insurance goals over a 10-minute span late in the match to beat Graceland University.
The win over Graceland and the overtime win by Baker University over Missouri Valley College on Tuesday night allowed Benedictine to clinch a share of the 2013 HAAC regualr season title.
After maintaining the 1-0 advantage through the halftime, the Ravens added two more goals during the second half.
Their second goal of the match came during the 72nd minute when Paul Floersch put a shot on frame that was intially credited as an own goal as Graceland's clearing attempt appeared to go off a defender. On further review, it was determined that after the intitial shot by Floersch, Graceland's clearing attempt went off the head of Sean Latz for the goal.
During the 83rd minute, Fischer tallied his second assist of the match on a goal scored by Brian Flores. Fischer's pass was set up by a take away and run by Fabio Priore down the stadium side of the field. Priore fed Fischer, who crossed the ball to Flores for the finish.
Benedictine hosts MNU at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in a match that could determine the outright HAAC regualr season champion. MNU has to beat Avila University on Tuesday in order to set up that scenerio.
