MCPHERSON – The No. 13 Raven men's soccer team returned to campus of McPherson College on Saturday night to take on the University of Texas at Brownsville in a road-neutral match.
After playing to a 1-1 draw for nearly 89 minutes, the Ocelets converted a penalty kick during the 88th minute to edge the Ravens 2-1.
UTB struck first during the 26th minute and held a 1-0 lead over the Ravens until the 39th minute of play.
Neither team was able to get much of a run going offensively in the second half as the defense took center stage until UTB was able to draw a foul in the box on a run during the 88th minute.
Taylor Vinnage and Caleb Jenkins split time in goal for the Ravens, each playing 45 minutes. Vinnage finished with three saves while giving up one goal while Jenkins finished with one save while allowing one goal.
The Ravens open their eight-game home schedule on Friday at 7:30 p.m. as they host a non-con match against Bellevue University at the BC Soccer Complex.
