PARKVILLE, Mo. – The No. 4-ranked Raven Men's Basketball team remained on the road Tuesday night, traveling to take on Park University.
Park University (0-1) received votes in the preseason NAIA Div. I Top 25 Coaches' Poll and gave Benedictine (2-1) another road test before the Ravens were able to walk away with the 56-52 win.
After battling through four ties and five lead changes through much of the first half, Park held a 26-22 lead at the break.
Benedictine started the second half off slow which allowed the Pirates to build as much as a 10-point lead twice just five minutes into the half.
From that point, the Ravens offense heated up as they outscored the Pirates 27-9 over the next 12 points to erase their deficit and push ahead by as much as eight points.
Benedictine hit 11 of 22 from the floor in the second half while holding Park to just 11 of 35 and 1 of 9 from beyond the arc.
The Ravens went 8 of 10 from the charity stripe in the second half, which included converting six free throws over the final three minutes of the game.
Park was led in scoring by the game-high 17 points of BJ Watson.
The Ravens remain on the road Friday and Saturday as they travel to Baldwin City to take part in the Wildcat Classic. They take on Friends University at 5:30 p.m. Friday and then play Saint Gregory's University at 1 p.m. Saturday.
They make their 2014-15 home debut a return game against Park University at 7 p.m. Nov. 11.
