BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The No. 4-ranked Raven Men's Basketball team led wire-to-wire on Saturday afternoon as they took on No. 6 Saint Gregory's University in their second game of the 2014 Wildcat Classic.
Benedictine (4-1) picked up their fourth straight win with a 76-67 win over Saint Gregory's (3-1).
The Ravens led from the tip off, pushing ahead by as much as 10 points just seven minutes into the game.
By halftime, SGU had cut the Ravens lead to single digits with Benedictine taking a 44-36 lead into the locker room.
Benedictine used a 53.6 percent shooting effort in the first half to build their lead and need just eight second-half field goals to seal the win in the second half as they held SGU to just 32.4 percent from the floor.
The Ravens connected on 14 of 17 from the free throw line in the second half en route to a season high 82.8 percent from the free throw line and a total of 24 free throws.
The Ravens take on Park University at 7 p.m. Tuesday night in their 2014-15 home debut.
