CANTON, Mo. – The No. 9-ranked Raven Men's Basketball team led for over nearly the entire game on Thursday as they earned a 64-50 road win over Culver-Stockton College.
Benedictine (17-3, 6-2 Heart) led for 37:54 of the game as Culver-Stockton (8-11, 3-5 Heart) was never able to take a lead en route to the Ravens season-high eighth straight win.
After playing to a two-point tie early in the first half, the Ravens used a 16-2 run to push their lead to 14 points by the midway point of half.
Defensively, the Ravens limited the Wildcats to just seven first-half field goals as they led 32-18 at halftime.
Benedictine maintained a double-digit advantage for the entire second half.
Culver-Stockton closed the gap to 10 points, 42-32, with 14 minutes left in the game but would get no closer as the Ravens outscored the Wildcats 18-14 over the final 10 minutes of the game to earn the 14-point win.
The two teams combined for 20 free throws in the second half with Benedictine converting on 58.8 percent to Culver-Stockton's 76.9 percent.
Both team converted just over 40 percent from the field while each scoring 32 second-half points but the halftime deficit proved to be too much for Culver-Stockton to overcome.
Benedictine was once again able to get valuable minutes off the bench as 10 players saw at lead nine minutes of action against Culver-Stockton.
The Ravens win sets up a 4 p.m. Top 25 showdown on Saturday with Heart front-runner No. 21 Evangel University inside the Ralph Nolan Gymnasium. Fans are encouraged to wear their favorite white Raven gear as the Raven Nation is holding a "White Out" against the Crusaders.
